FanimeCon of California to Host artist Gainax Suezen (updated)

The FanimeCon anime Convention announced on Monday that will host animator Gainax Fumio Iida, also known as SUEZEN, as guest of honour in his event from May 27-30 in San Jose, California. IIDA has worked as an animator for Tatsunoko, Japan of Walt Disney and 20th Century Fox, as well as Gainax, where he worked as a key animator or animation director on titles like Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance and the wings of Honneamise. It has also created several series of manga under the name of SUEZEN, including the series Yadamon, which anime studio group TAC adapted to an anime series in 1992.

Fanime also announced it will hold a special event to raise funds for the victims of Japan March 11 disasters Higashi Nihon plain (great earthquake of Eastern Japan), as well as the announcement of the three charities that will benefit from the annual auction of charity of the Convention: the community in support of cancer, the Red Cross of Silicon Valley and the APA in San Francisco.

According to the announcement, Iida participate in panels of Gainax and autograph sessions during the Convention. FanimeCon also will host voice actor and singer Yuya Matsushita, designer of Evangelion Petit Ryusuke Hamamoto, Trigun designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu, Fullmetal Alchemist/Gundam 00 director Seiji Mizushima, Japanese pop band flow and voice Tohru Furuya. Frequent guests Hiroyuki Yamaga (co-founder of Gainax) and Halko Momoi (actroess and singer voice) will also return this year's Convention.
