Kyoto Seika University offers 1 Manga Ph.d. Japan

The University points out that the creation of the doctoral programme is a response to the internationalization of the culture of manga, greater public support and developments in digital media and culture of global content. Personal teaching faculty includes A Terra Keiko Takemiya creator and translator of manga and cultural anthopologist Matt Thorn.
Candidates in the doctoral programme will study the theories of the manga for at least 3 years receiving this degree of doctorate of arts. After completing the course, the Kyoto Seika University expected to graduate to researchers, teachers, and manga artists. The teaching staff includes researchers from manga known internationally and active authors and publishers. With this staff, students obtain a narrow vision of perspectives of the authors in the research of manga and develop professional knowledge about the production.
Kyoto Seika University will be accepting requests for next January, hold examinations for admission in February and accept students from 4 to 12 in the programme in April 2012.

University of Chicago for Mari Yamazaki of Host water thermal Romae

Harper College will host the next "of Rieko Saibara Manga Showdown" ("Saibara Rieko no Taiketsu of Garyoku Jinsei") with award-winning hot springs Romae manga creator Mari Yamazaki (right photo) in the suburb of Palatine Chicago, June 26 at 2: 30 p.m. This will be the first event of the series of "manga Showdown" overseas, where Saibara (Kaasan - life/Mainichi MOM Kaasan, right photo) has live drawing "competitions" with other creators of manga. Yamazaki was born in Tokyo, he now lives in Chicago.
Romae in thermal waters of Yamazaki is a comedy about Lucius, an architect of public bath houses (baths) in ancient Rome, which tiempo-viajes to several baths of today in Japan. Through passages of manga and essay, Yamazaki explores the two cultures in the world "who wanted bathrooms most: the Japanese and the Romans!" The play won the Manga Taisho Prize (Prize for cartoons) the year passed, followed by the short Prize work of Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize in the 14th. A version of the film with Hiroshi Abe and Aya Ueto will open in Japan in the year 2012. CrunchyRoll began transmission Saibara Kaasan - anime of life of the mother throughout the world in 2009.
Tickets for the event of Harper College, which will be in Japanese, cost of us $10. The Japanese Publisher Shogakukan sponsors the event in collaboration with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & industry in Chicago.
"manga Showdown" guests have included Naoki Urasawa (children of the twentieth century, Monster) Kiminori Wakasugi (Detroit Metal City), Takashi Murakami (ga Namakemono Miteta), Nobuyuki Fukumoto (Kaiji), Hisashi Eguchi (Stop!) Hibari-Kun), Tetsuya Chiba (Ashita no Joe) and Fujiko Fujio (Doraemon).
